Echizen momigami is produced in Echizen, Japan, located in Fukui Prefecture. Momigami paper, which translates to "rubbed paper" in English, is named after the unique process used to produce this paper. This paper is renowned for its texture and production method, accomplished by a "rubbing" process. The paper's unique texture is carried out by rubbing dried mulberry or hemp fibers with a polished stone. The result is a crinkled and textured appearance that Echizen momigami is famous for.
